Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. St. Augustine,
FL. Built over 1672-95, el Castillo is the oldest maritime fort in the U.S. Visitors can tour the impressive structure, walk the grounds, and see where John Horse was held in 1837. Geronimo and other western Indians were imprisoned here after the Civil War. |
