Black participants: 885-1265.
Armed blacks: 250-plus.
White casualties: 400 est.
End result: 500 blacks emigrated west, 250 under U.S. Army promises of freedom; 90 were caught & enslaved to whites; 200 or more surrendered and returned to slavery; unknown numbers perished or escaped the region.
